NIHR CLAHRC East Midlands has five inter-related themes

The Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) East Midlands, led by Professor Kamlesh Khunti, brings together a collaboration of local providers and commissioners of NHS services, universities, industry and other relevant organisations. It leads applied health research across the region, translating research findings into improved outcomes for patients.

CLAHRC East Midlands will receive £28 million in funding for a period of five years (2013-18). It will improve patient outcomes by conducting research of local relevance and international quality into five main areas:

  1. Preventing chronic disease
  2. Managing chronic disease
  3. Caring for older people and stroke survivors
  4. Enhancing mental health
  5. Implementing evidence and improvement
